Room A330, Kelvin Grove Campus

The School of Cultural and Language Studies in Education at QUT invites you to a day-long discourse analysis workshop with Professor Theo van Leeuwen.  Professor van Leeuwen has published extensively in the area of semiotic analysis and co-authored the ground-breaking book Reading Images: The Grammar of Visual Design with Gunther Kress in 1995 (released in second edition in 2006).

The workshop will be of interest to researchers and postgraduate students working in all areas of text analysis, including talk, written documents, and visual and multimodal texts.  The workshop will involve three sessions:

  1. Professor van Leeuwen discussing past and present work;
  2. Question and answers from workshop participants related to data and analysis;
  3. A panel discussion with experts in the area of discourse analysis: Professor Theo van Leeuwen, Professor Allan Luke and Professor Phil Graham.

The workshop is free and is open to interested researchers across universities and faculties. Afternoon tea will provided.

  • People with specific questions about data and analytical methods are invited to send materials to Margaret Kettle at m.kettle@qut.edu.au.  All questions and data samples will be forwarded to Professor van Leeuwen.

Registration is closed now.
